Entering Leak Records

In the Water Industry Data Model, leak information is recorded using Water Field Operations Record features, where the Type property is used to specify that it is a leak.

During placement of a Water Field Operations Record, the Asset ID information of the Water Main or Lateral it is placed on will be used to set its Asset ID property. The Asset ID is essential for the generation of leak analysis reports and displays, because it is used as the link between the leak record and associated pipe feature.

Note: If the Type property of the Water Field Operations Record is not set to "Leak", the instance of the feature will be ignored when leak statistics are computed, and listed under Total disregarded leak-features in the List Statistics Report dialog.

Note: If the Asset ID property of the Water Field Operations Record is empty, a linkage between the record feature and the associated Water Main or Lateral can still be established using the Associate Single Leak Feature or Associate Leak Features tools.
